Playground


Playground Team Manager

One team manager is required per Playground pod.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate who brings snacks each Saturday
  • Make sure the players shows up on time for Picture Day

Training Requirements

  • Fingerprinting - at Go Day/Orientation or at specific local fingerprinting vendors
  • Risk Status (Background Check - online with renewal every 15 months)
  • Concussion Awareness (online training)
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest (online training)
  • AYSO Safe Haven (online training)
  • SafeSport (online training, ~90 minutes for first time, 30 minutes for renewal in 15 months)
  • Team Manager Orientation Training (Zoom session provided at beginning of season)

Time Commitment

  • 1 hour every Saturday morning with Playground session

6U Division


6U Head Coach

One head coach is required per team.

Responsibilities

  • Run age-appropriate drills at Saturday games (25 min)
    • No prior soccer knowledge required
    • In-person, realtime guidance and mentoring will be provided by Pro Soccer staff on Saturdays
    • AYSO-specific MOJO app will also provide age-appropriate drills and suggestions for practices
  • Guide team at Saturday scrimmage with other team including managing player substitutions (25 min)
  • Follow Safe Haven guidelines and principles
  • Promote the AYSO philosophy
  • Provide player evaluations to the division coordinators at the end of the season
  • Be the face of Region 64 to the parents and players
  • Carry out other team tasks as necessary
  • Have FUN!

Training Requirements

  • Coordinate who brings snacks each Saturday
  • Make sure the players shows up on time for Picture Day
  • Pick up the team uniforms from the uniform coordinator as well as any other team swag items, bring to next game, and help the coach distribute them
  • Find somebody to coordinate season end team party or other activities, if agreed upon by the team
  • Cover or find replacements for key volunteer role if missing/absent

Training Requirements

Two Field Prep Leads are required per team.

Responsibilities

  • If your team is the first game of the day on the field, get help from other parents and lead effort to setup and prepare the field to be ready for the game
  • If your team is the last game of the day on the field, get help from other parents and lead effort to remove and properly store all field equipment (goals, flags, etc.)

Training Requirements

  • Attend an in-person Region 64 6U Field/Goal setup training course at the beginning of the season

Time Commitment

  • Up to 30 minutes on Saturday morning if your player’s game is the first or last game on the field

8U Division


8U Head Coach

8U Official

One 8U Official is required per team. Two are recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Multiple 8U Officials on the playing teams share the game responsibilities and can rotate on a weekly basis
  • On Game day, arrive 20 minutes early, hold the pre-game checkin with officials, coaches and players
  • Manage the game with simplified 8U laws of the game
    • Center Official: Blows whistle when needed to start and stop play, or to signal fouls or infractions and keeps game time
    • Flag Officals: Signal direction of restart (set direction of throw-in, corner or goal kick), help players with verbal prompts if needed, assists the center official as needed
    • Substitute and Score Official: Help manage the Line up cards, track subs, and goals scored (for blow out purposes only)

Training Requirements

  • Fingerprinting - at Go Day/Orientation or at specific local fingerprinting vendors
  • Risk Status (Background Check - online with renewal every 15 months)
  • Concussion Awareness (online training)

One Referee is required per team. Two are recommended as there are three referees needed for a game.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Field Referee (in the center of the field) or Assistant Referee (on the touchline) for Saturday or Sunday competitive games
  • Ensure the safety of players and other participants
  • Ensure the fairness of the game by enforcing the IFAB laws of soccer and AYSO National Rules and Regulations
    • Communicate with players, coaches and other participants to ensure understanding and alignment of actions
  • Enable a FUN game for everyone by providing a safe and fair environment for the game of soccer

Training Requirements

  • Fingerprinting - at Go Day/Orientation or at specific local fingerprinting vendors
  • Risk Status (Background Check - online with renewal every 15 months)
  • Concussion Awareness (online training)
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest (online training)
  • AYSO Safe Haven (online training)
  • SafeSport (online training, ~90 minutes for first time, 30 minutes for renewal in 15 months)
  • Referee course (in-person training with some having an online pre-requisite)
    • Regional Referee course for 10U games
    • Certification (with level-specific badge) is provided after completion of a set number of games for higher level Referees at Assistant and Field Referee positions:
      • Intermediate Referee for 12U games
      • Advanced Referee for 14U games
      • National Referee for 16U and 19U games

Time Commitment

  • 2 hours/week for a Saturday game
  • Ideally, signup to referee a different game than your player’s, but always bring your referee uniform/gear to your player’s game if a referee is not available
